Economic Development Takes a Bold Step Forward in Oneida County

RHINELANDER, WI– In a significant stride towards fortifying the economic infrastructure of Oneida County, the Oneida County Economic Development Corporation (OCEDC) is pleased to herald a series of groundbreaking projects and expansions that have reshaped the local business landscape. These efforts, a testament to the OCEDC’s commitment and leadership, have catalyzed growth, fostered business success, and opened new avenues for employment and investment in the region.

Transformative Projects Underpinning Growth

The journey of economic revitalization in Oneida County is marked by notable projects, each contributing uniquely to the fabric of regional prosperity. Oldenburg/Lakeshore found a new home in Rhinelander through concerted efforts by the OCEDC, which facilitated TIF funding and secured a TEA grant for essential rail service, alongside substantial revolving loans from NEWEDC amounting to $625,000 for site and equipment development.

Printpack’s new manufacturing facility stands as a beacon of industrial growth, brought to fruition by a strategic land purchase, a development agreement, and a land swap, all orchestrated by the OCEDC. Similarly, Ponsse USA’s expansion was facilitated by the brokerage of a critical land sale and the acquisition of grants totaling $100,000 for infrastructural enhancement.

Moreover, Superior Diesel’s operations were bolstered through a complex land sale brokerage and infrastructure development, saving over $63,000 in conjunction with the City of Rhinelander’s TIF district efforts. American Plastics, another cornerstone of local manufacturing strength, benefitted from an interest-free county loan and a partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Commerce, culminating in a loan exceeding $300,000 for project development.

A second endeavor with American Plastics underscored the OCEDC’s dedication to workforce development, through grant assistance that facilitated the training of 22 individuals on new equipment, leveraging $36,625 in private investment and securing a $36,000 Customized Labor Training Grant.
